The body of a pastor in South Africa, Siva Moodley is still lying in a mortuary in Johannesburg, more than a year after his demise, as family and members of his congregation continue to await his resurrection.
It is said that the cleric who was the founder of The Miracle Centre in Northern Johannesburg, died on 15 August after falling ill.
Moodley’s church are yet to acknowledged his death on their social media platforms despite dying over a year ago.
Siva Moodley has a legion of followers, both domestically and internationally.
He is revered amongst the religious community for a set of supposed ‘miracles’ he performed during his livelier sermons.
However, critics believe these were performed ‘with a sleight of hand’.
Since his death 392 days ago, Pastor Moodley has laid dormant inside Martins Funeral Home.
The institution, located in Fourways, has been paid respectably to keep the faith-based leader in their care – but even a cashflow of almost R60 000 is starting to wear thin.
Martin du Toit who runs the funeral home, recently told IOL, that he’s seeking approval from the courts to either burn or cremate the body.
Indeed, it seems even the pastor’s most ardent supporters have given up on a resurrection.
Moodley has had no visitors within the last 12 months.
It is also true that the pastor’s social media accounts, most notably Twitter, are still operational.
Tweets are posted every day as if they were from him, services are being live-streamed on social media to the day, with sermons conducted by his wife and son.
A recent post from Africa Facts Zone has set tongues wagging on this issue again, as prospects of a resurrection dim further by the day.
A tweep, Deogratius said, “No wonder south Africa still lacking behind despite the resources and opportunity to be a world class country.
@mengeech see what religion can do.”
(Christian) Nationalist: “They did the same thing with ntate Kobus from here in Stilfontein, these ppl ba “the word of faith theology”. If ever there’s an element that’s bringing Christianity into disrepute, it’s the Charismatic leaders & their followers.”
Umsolwa Ongenacala: “It’s my first time reading about this. Obviously the guy is an Indian, black South Africans don’t involve themselves in Indian
religious practices hence I never heard about him.”
A_Gaizan: “This is one of the effects of lying! He deceived them and the fall for it. They gonna wait donkey years.”
Diskor_T: “Who ever introduced religion to Africans did a real number on us.”
@bigLarry_: “His family and members of the congregation are the one who really need to wake up!”
@chiheraspeciary: “Maybe he resurrected then he suffocated and died a proper death lol 😂”
AsinaMari: “🤣🤣🤣🤣…you might be right,or he got up but the embalming fluids in his system poisoned him and he died again.”
