ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Alex Otti, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Abia State has named Ikechukwu Emetu, 38-years-old, as his running mate.
Otti made the announcement in Umuahia, the state capital, where he also inaugurated his campaign council.
A former House of Representatives member, Nnanna Ngwu will serve as the Chairman.
According to Otti, he got attracted to Emetu because of his antecedent as a philanthropist.
Otti, the business mogul noted that engineer Emetu satisfied his desire for a young citizen as his deputy.
He recalled that he promised Abia youths a sense of belonging in the political space.
The LP flagbearer said Emetu is known in his Ohafia Local Government Area for “community development service and humanitarian gestures”.
“So in all, he fits squarely into the characteristic and quality of the kind of deputy that I yearned for,” NAN quoted him saying.
Otti expressed confidence that his team would ensure a robust and result-oriented campaign that would ensure victory in 2023.
Emetu in his remarks thanked the candidate for selecting him, and promised that he would mobilize his peers for the party.
“This opportunity is not only for me but for millions of Abia youths. You have made us to believe that the future truly belongs to the youth,” Emetu added.
