ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the display of a preliminary voters’ register in Cross River, across the 18 local government area.
This is following the just-suspended Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The INEC displayed the new register at its office in Calabar and area offices across the 18 local government areas.
INEC’s spokesperson in Cross River, Tonia Nwobi noted that the display would end on 22 August.
“The public is to scrutinise the register with a view to making claims on or raise objections against the inclusion of registrants,” she said.
The register showed the names and particulars of candidates and their political parties as part of the preparation for the 2023 general elections.
Meanwhile, 187 candidates from 12 political parties are contesting to fill the 25 vacant seats in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
Eleven political parties fielded 69 and 28 candidates for eight House of Representatives seats and three senatorial seats, respectively, NAN reports.
